First Christmas in Oz

The Australian summer is underway with a deluge of precipitation, and not the white fluffy stuff we had this time last year in Holland.

My youngest, almost 3, is experiencing his first full summer and Christmas in Australia. He has mentioned going on a sled once, where a swift explanation took place. He also asked how Santa Claus would find him now we are not living in Holland.

(Christmas 2009 - Holland)

Now, if the rain would just hold out for Christmas Day where a traditional Christmas could take place around the BBQ. A snappy game of backyard cricket and eating ourselves almost sick and fall asleep on the lounge with the airconditioner cranked up to a balmy 17 degrees celcius.

Where ever you are this Christmas I hope it's filled with love and laughter.

Cheers,
Rebecca

Return to Oz...

OK... so its been a little while, well, 6 months to be precise. I am now somewhat settled back in Australia and have put together my latest Vlog on Travelling with Baby/Toddlers.

I've got to stop saying 'this week' but anyway I roadtest CARES (Child Aviation Restraint System) which is used in air travel with kids.

A quick journey from The Netherlands, we overnight in London and travelled to Singapore on my birthday. (Shortest birthday Ive had, travelling across the International Date Line).

We stopped in Singapore for 2 days, where our first nights accomodation in Singapore left a bit to be desired. Then onto Melbourne for a few hours and finally Sydney, where we caught a cab from Sydneys airport to Parramatta and was charged $150 for the pleasure.

Anyway, we're home and settling in and there is so much more to come...

Hanging out in Boskoop

On the weekend I headed out to the small Dutch village of Boskoop. Famous for its production of trees and of course its numerous canals. Why Boskoop you ask? Well I learnt not so long ago that a former Australian colleague and friend is from Dutch heritage and this is where their family is from. It also forms part of the largest joined floriculture areas in the world. Not much to see, but I did have the best Erwten Soup I've ever had.....

Enjoy!

Freak Show No More

Its OK kids Mummy's back... In the previous post I showed you photos of how my skin looked for around seven months, this one shows you it is on the mend. Of course not ideal, but the use of steroid ointments helped speed up the recovery process.
